With just 6 housekeeping cottages on 20 acres you will be sharing this slice of the sparsely populated Canadian Algonquin Highlands with only a few other guests and the local wildlife, even during the summer high season. Many of our guests come for weekend or mid-week getaways during the even quieter fall, winter and spring seasons.
Our all-inclusive, 'cut-above', resort has 1,500 feet of frontage on a largely undeveloped lake. A pair of loons nest on the island in the centre and their mournful cries are music for the soul.
Enjoy nature, in comfort and luxury...
Our cottages range from the compact 2 person, picture perfect, Sunset Cottage (also known as the Honeymoon cottage) to the 2,000 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom cottages (Shangri La and The Chalet). The other 3 cottages (The Maples, High Noon & Island View) have 2 bedrooms each.
All cottages are well equipped (i.e. fridge, range, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, satellite colour TV, VCR, DVD player, bottled water dispenser, air conditioner, Bar BQ) and finished and decorated with an interesting mixture of Canadiana and artefacts we have gathered from around the world (i.e. Fran's plate collection and Pat's collection of African wooden masks).
Shangri La, The Chalet, and The Maples are our 3 luxury cottages and they have additional features such as multiple bathrooms, fireplaces, dishwashers, washers & dryers, and their own private hot tubs and saunas. In addition, each has special features - Shangri La has a large fieldstone fireplace, 42'' plasma TV, screened porch and boat house sitting room, while The Chalet and The Maples have Jacuzzi tubs. Finally, Shangri La and The Chalet have home theatre surround sound systems and high speed wireless Internet access for those that would not be able to get away for a vacation or break without it.
Of course you go to a cottage to enjoy nature and the outdoors; but, the extra amenities are appreciated when you are chilling out after a long day or when the weather may not be at it's best.
All inclusive... While you are staying with us, the only additional charge is for any long distance phone calls you may make and we recommend that you avoid these by using a calling card or your mobile.
At the resort... For those that want to be active, you can enjoy tennis, fishing (lake trout, pike and rock bass), swimming (3 swimming rafts), canoeing, kayaking (new June 2007), badminton, beach volleyball, horseshoes, sunbathing, row boats and paddle boats.
Those in the 3 luxury cottages can enjoy their own private hot tubs and saunas, while those in the other cottages can do likewise in the central Wellness Spa.
We believe that everyone will enjoy the beautiful sunsets over Purdy Lake, star gazing (truly amazing without all the light pollution and you may even be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights), bird watching (our favourites are the blue jays and the loons) and singing songs around your own campfire.
ATVers and snowmobilers will appreciate the ready access to extensive trail systems - for snowmobilers there are 20,000 km of groomed Ontario snowmobile trails.

More in the area... there is much more in the area to do and see - a few of the possibilities - world famous Algonquin Park (over 7,000 sq km) - we recommend their interpretive programs; especially the wolf howls, Bancroft's annual Rockhound Gemboree & Stone Craver's Show, the Rally of the Tall Pines, Stone Fence Theatre, Fall Colours & Studio Tours - (2 closest Bancroft and Madawaska Valley), Maynooth's Loggers Games (Sept) and Celtic Festival (May), and much more. Please see our To Do and See pages for more events and activities.
Come... chill out and recharge your batteries at Blue Moon Retreat so that you are prepared to face the more hectic outside world when you must reluctantly leave us.
Thank you...
