4 Seasons Cottage Resort near Algonquin Park
- High Noon Cottage -

Major remodeling, Spring 2001...

In the spring of 2001, we made major renovations to the common room, master bedroom and deck of High Noon. One of the most popular modifications was the addition of patio doors overlooking the swimming area. This is especially popular with families which have younger children. They also appreciate the fact that the swings, slide and gigantic sandbox are set away from the lake for safety reasons. For 2002, we have added a satellite connection for the TV.<

Lakeside...

High Noon is the closest cottage to the lake and besides overlooking the swimming area is right above the dock at which the canoes, pedal boats and row boats are moored. Younger children get a great thrill out of catching rock bass right from the dock. With 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed, it can accommodate up to 6 people; but, as the common area is somewhat compact we recommend occupancy of 6 only if a couple of them are smaller children.

Compact Common Area for a 2 bedroom; but, Comfortable and Complete...

Of our six cottages (on 20+ acres), this is the 3rd smallest - 4 rooms - master bedroom,2nd bedroom, bathroom and common room (combined kitchen, dining and living room). The living space is expanded with the deck which overlooks the swimming area.

It has a 3 piece bathroom - toilet, bath tub and vanity sink. The room is paneled in natural pine which gives a very warm look. There is no shower; but, there are central showers (and laundry facilities) available. Please bring your own beach towels and toiletries.

The main room acts as kitchen, dining and living room. With patio doors on the side plus windows facing the lake and another large window, the room is bright and airy. The common room is somewhat long and narrow.

The kitchen has a fridge, stove/range, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster and is equipped with pots and pans, utensils, dishes and silverware. Being on vacation, most people do a great deal of the cooking on the provided gas barbeque (gas supplied).

For your entertainment...

For your entertainment, a satellite connection for the TV provides both television and music. A VCR is also provided. There is a limited library of videos and books to supplement those that you may bring with you. As Blue Moon Retreat is a small, friendly place, within a short while you will probably be able to extend the available selection by swapping with one of the neighbors. Decks of cards and board games are also provided.

Pine paneling in both bedrooms...

As the bedrooms are somewhat compact, we are only able to provide double beds. Depending on the time of year either a duvet or comforter is provided (naturally, along with all the linens.). The coach in the common room is a sofa bed for additional sleeping space.

Enjoy the outdoors...

One of the joys of being at the cottage is enjoying the outdoors. We hope that the 2 decks, your own fire pit (with free firewood), comfortable outdoor furniture (picnic table and lawn furniture) and for added privacy, a wooden privacy fence, help in this important area.

Use the provided canoes, row boats or, pedal boats for fishing (fishing equipment not provided) or exploring the island or perhaps you might like swimming from the rafts, playing horseshoes, badminton, beach volleyball or tennis. As you can see from the logo / picture, sunsets over the lake can be quite breathtaking and many guests like to sit at the docks or beside the lake for this (with over 1,500 feet of lake frontage, there is no problem in getting a good vantage point).

Open May through Thanksgiving...

Highnoon is only available from May (the best time to see moose in Algonquin Park) through Thanksgiving (just after the magnificent fall colors and related studio tours). As the spring and fall nights can be cool, the cottage is all insulated and has electric heat. The 8 person hot tub and cedar lined sauna at the Wellness Centre are always popular; but, especially so in the cooler shoulder seasons.
